Bad at Blogging; Good at Crafts

Wow.  I am really horrible at blogging.

Anywhoo....here's what's up since my last post:

1. SCHOOL: School is nuts right now. We had our district FCCLA contest on Wednesday and until you live with or are a FACS teacher, you will really have no idea how crazy of a process that is. While other organizations and sports compete all year long (or for an extended period of time), FCCLA hosts 30+ contests all on one day.  It. is. crazy.  Buuut, my kids did great! I had eleven students competing in eight events. Ten of them did well enough to earn a spot at the state contest in April.  I am so proud of them all!

After Wednesday's big events, Thursday was Regional Scholar's Bowl and the team that I coach, well, co-coach, took first and they get to go to State too!  So, sayonara next Saturday.  We'll see ya on the flip side.

On top of that, Prom (which is becoming a four-letter-word to me) is right around the corner so it's time to start ordering, building, and planning for that. So if anyone has any great decorating tips, send them my way!

2. PROJECTS: I've made--count-em--THREE Pinterest projects this week!  (In all my free time--haha).

First...T-Shirt Scarf:

Second: Twine-Wrapped Letters:

Third: Ribbon-Flower Headband

I read a blog post the other day that was totally bashing Pinterest.  While it might seem silly or dumb, I was really offended.  I LOVE Pinterest.  I think it is so much fun and I don't care if it's silly! I have gotten some great craft ideas and recipes from the site. If you aren't on board with the whole Pinterest thing yet, here's a good article I found to help you get started. If you need an invitation, let me know and I'll send you one. I really like being able to keep ideas in one place and, I agree with this quote:

So all you Pinterest haters...back off.

Welp, that's all I got. Have a great weekend!

Jumping on the Blogwagon

Ok, so I caved.

I wasn't planning to do the whole blog thing--ever.  Mostly because my friend, Katie, has an AWESOME blog and I knew that I could never compete, but lately, I've  been bitten by the blog-bug.  So, here it is: the craziness that is my life right now. I don't know if anyone will read it, but I will enjoy writing it either way.  (Katie will still win by a mile, and I'm ok with that).

I have the best husband in the world, and he is a great sport, but he doesn't like hearing about my random stuff all the time.  Enter: the blog.  This will give me an outlet to share my ideas, projects, stories, etc. without annoying the crap out of the hubs (even though he says he doesn't mind).

I also have the BEST job in the world.  Seriously--I can't imagine doing anything other than teaching Family & Consumer Sciences.  If you don't know what that is--heaven forbid--you are seriously missing out.  And no, it is NOT home-ec.  I will fight you to the death about this topic.  You will not win, so don't even get me started.    More about FACS later.

Other things going on right now in my life include: sponsoring FCCLA, coaching Scholar's Bowl, sponsoring the Junior Class (aka--taking care of all things prom), fixing up our house, trying to get fit, and most recently, planning my classroom re-model that just got approved today! Woohoo!  All of these will provide plenty of inspiration for this project and I'm excited to share a little of my life with whoever wants to hear about it!

That's all I've got for now, so, while I get the hang of this, go look at Katie's blog. :)
